The TriggerTech Competitive for AR-9 (pistol caliber carbines) is a short two-stage drop-in trigger designed to emulate a 1911 trigger feel: a crisp break with zero creep, extremely short over-travel, and a tactile reset of less than 0.015".

The hammer has a greater mass compared to the AR-15 model, which increases inertia, and a lower center of percussion specific to the AR-9 platform: this maximizes the energy transmitted to the firing pin while reducing vibration and wear.
