The SureFire SFMB-556-1/2-28 is a muzzle brake for M4/M16 and variants with 1/2x28 muzzle threads. It significantly reduces recoil impulse and muzzle rise, allowing the weapon to track straight and stay on target for faster follow-up shots.

The patented Impulse Diffusion design minimizes side blast and pressure waves toward the shooter. The brake also serves as an adapter for SureFire SOCOM 5.56 mm Fast-Attach suppressors; the rear labyrinth seal reduces carbon buildup and facilitates suppressor removal after extended firing. Blind pilot holes at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions allow for custom porting, while the 6 o'clock position is for indexing and pin-and-weld attachment.
