Forster Products Cross Bolt Die Lock Ring

The Cross Bolt Die Lock Ring is the lock ring Forster Products uses to secure die settings. Unlike lock rings with a set screw, which push a screw against the threads, this one clamps by tightening the ring onto itself using a cross bolt.

The bolt joins the two ends of the ring, and the tightening is uniform around the entire circumference: the die threads are not marred, and the die does not tilt when the ring is tightened, so the setting remains consistent even after repeated removal. A 7/64" hex key is all that is needed for tightening. It is the same lock ring that Forster includes as standard on its Bench Rest Dies.
