Delta Optical Chase ED binoculars

Delta Optical Chase ED

The Chase ED is Delta Optical's compact binocular, recognizable by its minimalist, modern design and a particularly favorable ratio between size and objective lens diameter. It is available in four configurations—8x42, 10x42, 10x50, and 12x50—and is designed for those who carry binoculars around their neck for many hours: the 8x42 model weighs just 656 grams and is 134 millimeters long.

The low-dispersion ED lenses limit chromatic aberration, which is the tendency of different wavelengths to focus on slightly different planes, thereby reducing color fringing on high-contrast edges. The prisms are BAK4, a borosilicate glass that, thanks to its refractive index, produces a full light cone and sharp edges in the field of view. The choice of configuration depends on the application: the 8x42, with a 135-meter field of view at 1,000 meters, is the most stable for handheld use and best suited for birdwatching; the 12x50 has a twilight factor of 24.5 and favors long-range detail and use in low light.
