The Leupold QR Quick Release two-piece bases are the interface between the SIG SHR 970 receiver and the rings that hold the scope: they define the position, height, and alignment of the optic, upon which zero retention under recoil and correct eye relief depend. The two-piece design leaves the ejection port unobstructed and reduces weight and bulk compared to a continuous rail. The matte black finish limits reflections and is consistent with matte blued or treated firearms.

The Quick Release system pairs steel bases with QR rings equipped with levers: by unlocking the levers, the scope can be detached from the firearm and remounted while maintaining zero within the ±1/4 MOA declared by Leupold.
