Real Avid Smart-Torq

The Smart-Torq is Real Avid's torque wrench for mounting optics and assembling firearms. It is used to tighten screws to the value specified by the manufacturer, rather than relying on the "feel" of your hand: this is the requirement for ensuring a base or ring stays in place without crushing the optic tube or stripping the threads.

The value is set from 10 to 70 in-lbs in 1 in-lb increments, a resolution that allows you to meet specifications even when they are precisely indicated. The mechanism uses a unidirectional clutch plate: upon reaching the set torque, the wrench emits an audible and tactile click and stops transmitting force, thus preventing over-tightening. Being unidirectional, the same wrench can be used to loosen without adjusting the calibration mechanism. The ergonomic grips and Force-Assist system improve grip and control.
