North American Rescue C-A-T Combat Application Tourniquet Gen 7 – black
The North American Rescue Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) is a limb tourniquet designed for one-handed application, adopted as the official U.S. Army tourniquet since 2005. According to tests by the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, it effectively occludes blood flow in upper and lower limbs in the event of severe hemorrhage.
The Gen 7 version uses a windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band that distributes pressure evenly across the entire circumference of the limb. Once tightened sufficiently, the windlass locks into the dedicated clip and is secured with the Velcro strap, maintaining pressure during evacuation. The dual-securing system avoids the use of screws or clips that are difficult to operate under stress or when fine motor skills are compromised.
