Lee Precision Universal Shell Holder #R12

The Lee Precision #R12 universal shell holder is the support that holds the cartridge case head on the press ram during depriming, resizing, priming, and bullet seating. It is the size specified by Lee for 22 PPC, 6 PPC, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39 cases and for cartridges with a similar case head: without the correct shell holder number, the case will not remain aligned with the die.

Lee states that universal shell holders can be used in most reloading presses on the market; for their own presses, they are used by the Reloader Press, Breech Lock Challenger, Classic Cast, Turret presses, and Breech Lock Hand Press. Compared to shell holders for the Hand Priming Tool, which share the same numbering, the universal version has a bottom shank that engages the press ram head: for this reason, the two types are not interchangeable. The number identifies a case head diameter, not a single cartridge, therefore it covers all calibers that share that base measurement.

Recommended use

Suitable for Lee Reloader, Turret, Classic Cast, Breech Lock Challenger and Breech Lock Hand Press presses and for most reloading presses from other brands. It must be chosen based on the case head diameter of the cartridge to be reloaded. For priming with Lee hand tools, the shell holder for Hand Priming Tool of the same number is required instead, which is not the same part.
