The resizing die processes the entire case body, including the neck, and is equipped with a decapping and expanding rod; being made of steel, it requires the application of resizing lubricant before each pass. The seating die rests the bullet against a fixed stop, so that the total length does not depend on variations in case length. The Lee Factory Crimp Die applies the crimp via a collet that acts radially on the neck: a firm bullet hold is particularly useful in semi-automatic and combination firearms, where the feeding cycle puts stress on the cartridge.
