Hoppe's No. 1 cleaning patches are pre-cut patches for cleaning the barrels of firearms in .17 and .204 caliber. The small size is designed for small-bore barrels, allowing the patch to work in contact with the walls without forcing or getting stuck.

The uniform and highly absorbent fabric retains solvent, combustion residues, and excess oil. They are used with a cleaning rod and a jag or slotted tip: first soaked in cleaner, such as Hoppe's No. 9, to dissolve residues, then dry until they come out clean, and finally with a light coat of oil to protect the bore.
