J. Dewey 6.5mm/7mm Aluminum Male Copper Eliminator Jag
The J. Dewey Aluminum Male Copper Eliminator Jag is a rifle barrel cleaning tip for 6.5mm (.264) and 7mm/.280/.284 calibers, manufactured in the United States. It screws onto Dewey Copper Eliminator rods and other rods with an 8-32 female thread, and is used to push solvent-soaked patches down the barrel to remove combustion residue and copper fouling.
The choice of machined aluminum is designed for use with copper-removing solvents: unlike brass jags, aluminum does not react with ammonia-based solvents and therefore does not leave blue-green traces on patches that can be mistaken for copper residue, which would lead to inaccurate cleaning checks. With a hardness comparable to brass, it does not scratch the barrel or damage the muzzle.
