Lee Precision Universal Case Expanding Die
The Universal Case Expanding Die (also known as the Universal Flaring Die) is the Lee Precision die that slightly flares the case mouth before bullet seating. The flare allows the bullet to enter straight without the case edge shaving off material: an essential step for cast lead or plated bullets, but also useful with jacketed bullets to improve seating uniformity.
The unique feature of this die is the set of interchangeable stacking cones that cover the entire range from .22 to .45 caliber: instead of buying an expander for every caliber, you combine the necessary sequence of cones and adjust the die height to control the amount of flare. It works on both straight-walled pistol cases and bottleneck rifle cases, making it a cost-effective and compact alternative to the dedicated expanders found in individual die sets.
Key Features
- Universal die for flaring the case mouth
- Interchangeable stacking cones from .22 to .45 caliber
- Suitable for cast lead, plated, and jacketed bullets
- Usable on both pistol and rifle calibers
- One die instead of a dedicated expander for each caliber
- Standard 7/8"-14 thread
Recommended Use
Mount it on presses with 7/8"-14 threading in the station prior to seating. Adjust the height until you achieve the minimum flare necessary to set the bullet: excessive flaring shortens case life. It does not measure powder: for powder-through-the-die charging, you need a powder-through expanding die or a dedicated powder measure.
Package Contents
Die body and set of stacking expanding cones. Powder measure, shell holder, and resizing dies are not included.
